Aug. 16th, 2009 02:42 pmI'm all for women only and men only swimming sessions to give members of certain religions the opportunity to learn to swim. What I am not in favour of is forcing a strict swimwear code on ALL people attending these sessions. Members of the general public attend these sessions too and some members of these religions don't follow as strict a dress code as others. It's unfair on all and damages relations between the cultures.
"It also puts moderate Muslims in an awkward position as it suggests, wrongly, that they are not devout enough, simply because they choose not to cover themselves in a shroud in a pool." - Douglas Murray

Edit: Four entries (one private, one friends-only and two public) in one day. I must be making up for lost time.
