I think Mark found the picture for me on Wikipedia. I added the text about an hour ago.

I'm glad you like it.

I don't mind. I should warn you that I post a lot and I rant a lot. My next rant will be about LJ emails being slow and appearing out of order. Comments posted after this one appeared in my inbox before this one did which is why I was slightly confused.

Welcome to the insanity that is my journal.

participation in questionnaire

Dear luckylove
My name is Abdel Alfituri, and I am a Masters student at Napier University in Edinburgh, Scotland, writing a dissertation on blogging.
The study aims to identify the motivations that lead bloggers to create and maintain their blogs, and to assess how these differ in different parts of the world.
The success of the project is completely dependent on sufficient numbers of active bloggers agreeing to take a few minutes to complete a short questionnaire. This has been designed to have as few questions as possible, while also collecting useful data on which I can base my analysis.
You can be reassured that the data is collected and held completely anonymously – I only require some very basic information about yourself (e.g. age, gender).
If you could spare me a little time to complete the questionnaire I would be very grateful. If you would like to find out more information about the project then please contact me on, or else my supervisor, Dr Colin Smith, at

With many thanks
Abdel Alfituri

As for the meds the doctors put me on...

I was originally just diagnosed with the seizures, and on dilantin. Then they moved me to phenobarbital because it SO CHEAP. Then when I got approved for a drug help plan, DEPAKOTE. It was after that, I stopped having my crazy HIGHS, but I still would have my crazy LOWS. It was after one particular crazy low that I ended up at Mental Health, and when asked if I ever had "crazy HIGHS", I realized that I hadn't had them since I was on my new seizure med. The doc looked at me funny and asked, "Depakote?" I said, "OMG, how'd you know!?" After that, they kept me on the shit... Later they added topamax... Topamax isn't too bad, except I confuse words, or outright can't figure out what I'm trying to say even thought I *KNOW* what I'm trying to say.

The Depakote sucks because it fucking gave me PCOS... No woman should take Depakote if she wants to avoid PCOS. I'm miserable all the damn time now PHYSICALLY.

I like watching a lot of Korean dramas right now, and omg, American Dad... I did enjoy watching Psych, but the place I was watching it online stopped streaming it. ;_; I need to find a place to download it. :-D~ And The L Word is the hottest thing to me...

Friended you back!

I know exactly what you mean. I'm putting it down to my meds too. I've been on sodium valproate (very similar to Depakote) in the past. It didn't help at all with the bipolar stuff. Lamotrigine, another antiepileptic, does. It's a lot more expensive but healthcare is free in the UK and prescriptions for disabled people are also free.

I'm sorry you've had problems with Depakote and PCOS. I haven't heard about that. I did four years at medical school before I was diagnosed. If you want to continue this discussion on a friends-locked entry just pick one. I don't know how comfortable you are with talking about this on a public entry, especially the 'friending' one. I can screen your comment if you want me to.

You can screen it if you wish. I really don't care anymore. I tell everyone. ^_^ I figure why beat around the bush about things. LOL!

Amazingly hardly anyone is told about the link between Depakote and PCOS. It's so insane. This goes in a whole butt-fuck circle of studies, some saying "yes", some saying "no". ($=relatedarticles&dbfrom=pubmed) According to one female neurologist I spoke to in Atlanta, Ga in the USA, she said that part of it had to do with how it makes it difficult to lose weight. With how it makes one THINK they are hungry when they are not... there comes the weight gain, which is an added risk. However, she said that it IS a harsh medication, and that she doesn't think women should be on it. At least I wasn't looking to preserve my fertility, eh!? :-D
